[Fr...]
Dear Forum, I saw great improvements in the volume inspect in the latest version. I see that there are a couple of options for reducing and filtering the volume elements. I opened the example volume, made a single element alingment on it (a simple rotation) and exported it as RAW. GOM saves a RAW file and another file with *.gom_volume extensions. Opening with a text editor gives information on the volume size, resolution and a kind of transformation matrix. Is there a way to export a new volume with a new RAW file with the new alignment in the dataset and not in the gom_volume file? [Ke...]
Hello Francesco, the two files (RAW & gom_volume) form a unit and the content of these file is clearly separated. The RAW file contain the raw data, the gray values of the volume, so to speak. The gom_volume file contains metadata, this information describe how the RAW file is to be interpreted. This metadata cannot be written into the RAW file, it is always in the associated gom_volume file. If you want to continue working with just the RAW file, you have to read the information in the gom_volume file (e.g. text editor) and enter it manually, depending on the software used. As for your second question, it is already possible to create a subvolume. Go to Construct > Cuboid and define a box. Then create a sub-volume with Operations > Volume > Extract Volume Area Manually. [Fr...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Thanks Kevin. I tried without success this operation,, both selecting the cuboid or the original volume. Is this option available only in the Pro version? [Ke...]
Hello Francesco, you're right, the feature "Volume Extraction" is only included in GOM Volume Inspect Pro. You can find an overview of the license model in our TechGuide via the link below. The workflow for automatic and manual volume extraction is also shown there as a video. https://techguide.gom.com/en/article/general_volume_inspect_license.html
