[He...]
Please help. Could someone please explain to me how to export my actual point results from Gear Pro so that I may import them into Solidworks? And what module do I need in Solidworks to perform this? Thank you for your assistance.
[Ch...]
Heather, Great question. I'm not sure it's entirely possible as simply export CAD with actual data, etc. Are you referring to a standard spur gear or spline, or rather a bevel gear ? I have done a lot of topography 'twist' measurements on standard spur gears, and have output the data in an excel format ( that is another topic but there is info in the help manual ) Our guys have complex Gleason and other software to model actual CAD files based on excel, etc. For bevel gears, I believe there is a roundabout way to do it in GearPro. I can save an .act file as a "nominal" file for a spur gear - and then produce a CAD on the screen, however I doubt it has the flank errors modeled in the CAD, rather perhaps populated in a text file for next results comparison, etc. I'd suggest reaching out the Gear Pro team, and let us know if you find anything. This is actually a great idea for new functionality (request on MyVoice portal), however I think they would really need to upscale their modeling kernel in the background, which may be in the works. Best of luck !
[He...]
Hi Chris, A spur or helical gear. Thank you.
[Ch...]
Heather, you can output to excel in a variety of formats/outputs. I would know where to begin to import this so it is meaningful in Solidworks. In theory, you would select your gear flank in solidworks and make it some kind of a 'curve point' file. Then upload the excel to give it actual data, etc. Good luck.
