[Mi...]
Okay uncle Zeiss is either going to love or hate this post depending on how it goes. The goal is to get all data from all different sources in a database, and go paperless. We currently are stumbling along with *something else*, we are a large production facility with 33 CMMs, and a few hundred other stations of measuring equipment, plus a good number of Automated gauging cells. *something else* claims to do it and it likely can... but it's licensing structure is prohibitively expensive when scaling up this much. PiWeb also claims to do it, and it should work natively with the CMMs far better than relying on the table files. Does anybody have experience with PiWeb or... anything else on a scale like this? [Ri...]
Yes. I used to work for a manufacturing facility that had over 20 Zeiss CMMs that was all integrated to PiWeb. We purchased PiWeb all the way back in 2013 - probably one of the first in the US to use it. We had been using QC-CALC prior to that. Just having a database management tool that easily integrated with with the CMM was worth the cost, but the reporting functions were extremely powerful, and were a core to the day-to-day functions. There were a lot of parts measured across CMMs, whether that was in the lab or out of the floor, but management relied on being able to see daily reports of how every part was performing through each operation. I also used it for customer reports for PPAP/FAI. Hands down there is nothing that can compare to PiWeb - I will die on this hill. If there is any other software that easily integrates, stores all the same information (attribute and form plots), has a great data management tool, and also has the ability to make robust custom reports, I'd love to see it. [Da...]
I would love to hear PiWeb vs. Siemens Opcenter comparison. As I'm aware Opcenter is relying on QDAS for now, but how friendly it is to use when one needs to import from Zeiss CMMs and hand measurement tools daily? [Mi...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Thank you, its interesting that you mention QC-CALC as that is the current one we are attempting to use and it's just a bucket of frustration... some of it is our own fault but a lot of it is just the nature of the software being so different and inflexible.
