[Er...]
Hi, I'm using a Duramax with a z-down probe measuring the diameter on a cone with a target height. I know the machine will probe normal to the surface. The question is: Is the height specified on the dimension box the low point of the probe or the tangent point? Is there cosine error associated with this measurement? Thank you for the help.
[No...]
If you specified the correct cone angle (that is, the actual angle of the part, not the theoretical nominal!), then it shoulld be the tangent point. Otherwise there might be a cosine error.
[Da...]
I have only had success using cone calculation for this type of measurement. Circle on a cone is pretty difficult to get right, and a simple circle will not work. Probe the cone as a cone and then select cone calculation and specify where you want the diameter, OR the position. Works like a charm!
[Ni...]
Please sign in to view this quote. This. scan that cone as a cone. Then cone calculation will give you the diameter at a specific height. or it will give you the distance at a specific diameter. works amazing.
