[Ri...]
I've ran into an issue that I do not know how to resolve. When Chip ID is activated, I cant seem to get the Vast XT Head to change, this causes the program to stop because the ID doesnt match. In the image, the "Components" section is the Vast head used at stylus creation(?). Any help is appreciated.Chip ID issue 1.jpg
[Ma...]
Click on Chip ID settings, on the bottom left of that screen, and turn it off. Problem resolved Mark
[Me...]
Exactly what Mark said. We had a VAST XTR at my last shop and I had a Zeiss Tech come 4 times to try and resolve an issue with changing probes due to the ID chip reading and he found out there was an issue with the firmware in the Controller that Zeiss did not foresee. A 28-year veteran tech found this out after basically gutting the controller, the entire Vast head was replaced, the motherboard for the controller...It was a nightmare. It's so much easier to just turn off the ID chip reading capability lol.

[Wo...]
One of the first thing I always do in the settings is disabling ID-Chip. Never worked right.
[Ca...]
What's it "supposed" to do? Digitally identify when it physically loads the wrong probe?

Yes, if you would have it on and changed the probes between garages it should stop whatever plan is running. And so collisions could be avoided. [Cl...]
So it this is supposed to be a helpful option, but instead it isn't reliable when turned on? Why hasn't Zeiss addressed this?
[Ri...]
I have never had any issues with the ID Chip one an active head. Now on the XXT I have had a lot of issues. My experience may not be the same experience as everyone else though.
[No...]
Please sign in to view this quote. In my opinion it is mainly an instrument to thwart 3rd party equipment vendors (like with printer cartridges). Our new 6206 Conturas with XT refused to accept older 3rd party plates even when ID chip was turned off. Our solution was to isolate the plate contacts by sticking on two 0,8 mm GOM reference point markers. This saved us quite some money for the replacement of ~40 plates. I guess it stays in the family 🤣
