Keyence is fine, i actually like it for what it is. We don't have the profile Dongle, so its just for simple parts with TP's and linear dimensions. it helps take some of the load off the CMM for higher volume jobs.
But my bosses went to Chicago trade show a couple weeks ago and came back thinking we need a Faro arm, i told them NO!, but i think they are going to get it anyway. I think they were sold on the CNC machinists being able to measure parts inside their machine or something.

I hope you find a terrific candidate, Roberto.

In your last post, you mentioned "non-auto" as a selling point. I've never worked in auto, so I'm curious about what the downside(s) to that is? Does it have to do with high stress, the oscillating state of the industry, changing demands, or something else?

Im my experience as tier 1 and 2 auto, Quality was just a low hurdle for production to step over to get parts out the door.
An afterthought at best.
whenever Quality found a problem, production would come along and either A, tell quality thanks for finding the problem, but since production doesn't have any spare bodies, qc can now sort the 10 baskets of parts before they ship. Or B, explain to QC that this is the way they have been made for X amount of time, and if we stop shipment that it would "Shut down the assembly line" and cost the company (Insert very large number) dollars per hour for the shutdown.
Then the 6 and 7 day schedules of auto, that's always fun.
Even in non auto jobs, since QC is a support role, if saturdays is offered to the floor as voluntary overtime, qc ALWAYS had to work to support.

Where i work...... fairly low stress, constant new programs to write, i work 9 to 10 hours a day but very few saturdays, no formal attendance policy, no point system. its just cool. show up in the morning, leave when the day is done.
My co worker that works with me, i stole her from my last job. She got an offer that she could not refuse to go back. Silly money. Plus they're giving her all her seniority back like she never left.
