[An...] Posted February 20 Share Posted February 20 Calibration of a cylinder probe Procedure: - Calibrating a cylinder probe in manual mode - Re-measurement on the calibration sphere - Manual correction of the probe data 1. assemble a cylinder probe. 2. measure the probe in "cylinder" mode at the equator of the calibration sphere, with three points in each of two sectional planes. 3. after you have completed the calibration, you should switch to the side of the measuring elements. 4. measure a circle at the equator of the calibration sphere. 5. compare the diameter of the circle with the diameter of the calibration sphere. 6. the deviation from the actual diameter must be must now be corrected. 7. open the probe data and edit the probe radius. [No...] Posted February 20 Share Posted February 20 I'm astonished that Zeiss always forgets to mention this (in the past they did): With a cylindrical stylus you need to take care of the position and size of the zone where you touched the calibration sphere and you should not measure outside of that zone. Since the stylus is not spherical (like a disc stylus) every small amount of tilt from its ideal axis will later result in a position shift and a deviation of the radius/diameter if you touch your part outside of the calibrated zone.
