[Ji...]
We are looking at checking flatness on a 12" x 12" block. The tolerance is .0002". The problem is the surface is porous. Is there a way to filter or constrain this to not pick up the porosity? I am using an 8mm ball. I am using filters and outliers but may need to adjust them to help. If anyone knows what filters, outliers and constraints I should be using please let me know.
[Mi...]
Need more information on the porosity but it's likely going to be very difficult, if not impossible to reliably filter it out without affecting your true flatness. In the outlier settings I would suggest trying to change the "Factor for Outlier" Set the Inside workpiece to 2 or less while leaving the Outside part at the normal 3. This is make it throw out more data that is a depression in the surface. You can also add an iteration or two. But this should be done very carefully or you're going to end up filtering out way too much.
[Ji...]
For some reason when I tried those ideas Calypso froze up. Had to shut computer down to un-freeze it. Will try again later.
[DW...]
A linear patterned set of single points to avoid the porosity?
