Company wants to move CMM to a new location. The exit has double glass doors. Is it possible to take off the vertical header and then move "H" frame and granite to transport. Anyone has move CMM in house or a 3rd party transportation? Movement is approx a mile away.

You will want to contact Zeiss to have a technician check the CMM prior to the move, and properly brace the system for transport, as well as to have a technician to properly reinstall and check the CMM in the new location, otherwise your warranty will likely be void. With regards to removing the Z column, I am not sure about the feasibility of that, I would recommend contacting the Hotline at 1-800-327-9735 or cic.metrology.us@zeiss.com (have the serial number of the CMM available when you contact the Hotline), to speak to the Hardware support team who can give more information about moving procedures and answer that question.

Going to go with a big "No" right there to a self-move. Bridge is not a removable piece from the CMM nor is Z-axis. I STRONGLY advise you call for Service to move your ZEISS CMM and they will go through the proper process with you for assessing your move..

1-800-327-9735 or email cic.metrology.us@zeiss.com

Some other users may post on here "Oh go for it, it'll be fine." Please do not. Remember that you would not have picked the machine up from the factory and installed it yourself either. This is no different.

The damage costs alone caused by 3rd party movers and in-house maintenance crews usually far outweigh the cost of a ZEISS Service team moving the equipment properly. The downtime usually caused by that damage that isn't found until a ZEISS Service Tech comes to re-calibrate after the move is also enough to justify the proper Service team. Re-calibration is an absolute must if the machine is moved at all.

No way. It's one thing to shuffle a DuraMax around inside the same building ( Which is still ill-advised), but to dismantle and transport a bridge type CMM? Nope.

There's a proper procedure and braces to make a machine ready for transport.

A self-move will void your warranty and expose your asset to a high level of risk.

A third-party rigger is acceptable after the CMM has been properly braced by a Zeiss technician. The third-party rigger should have an air-ride equipped vehicle and experience moving CMMs. The move requirements are fully defined by Zeiss, and they can guide you through the process.

The Zeiss technician will lower the Z-axis ram to a level that will clear a standard 8' industrial door, but it will not be fully detached from the granite base. My experience is that the clearance through said 8-foot door is usually tight, only a few inches, so the forklift driver will need to be skilled and aware of the fragility of the CMM.
