Skipping Yearly Calibration

Good morning,

I was talking to an inspector at a different company that says they don't do yearly calibrations. It's a small shop and don't get audits done on them so the owner decided to skip on the calibrations from Zeiss.
Is this normal?
Even if they don't get audited, shouldn't the yearly calibration with the PMs be completed?

Thank You,

Depends on the volume of parts being measured. We run 24/6, so we do the annual calibration on our Conturas
and twice a year for our O-inspects which are a very high volume of parts. Have there been any significant crashes?
Are the CMM's kept clean/dry (somewhat controlled environment). At a minimum I would run weekly checks on
Master Parts or a known artifact to validate the accuracy of the CMM.
