[Li...]
HI, I would love to have some help on how to handle this> I have attached what I am trying to do for clarification. I am needing to measure a line (or something) that can intersect with a theoretical line to produce a point in mid air (with accuracy) because all the other measurements come from that point. I had tried to construct a line and intersect it (project) with the line, I did not get accurate results55555.jpg
[Cl...]
The "Line" where the two blue shaded areas are looks to be at a slight angle or have a small step in it? It's hard to see from the attachment. If that's the case, I think the line would be too short to be affective. I would measure a line on the angled surface (just to the left of the first blue area). Then measure a second line on the other blue area and intersect them for a point. Open a line feature and recall (Feature Points) the intersection point. Rotate it parallel to the second line Add the length, long enough to reach the vertical line and intersect for that "Local Datum".
[Li...]
The 2 blue boxes are my individual points that construct the line. There is not much material on this surface (in between blue rectangles that part is hollow) So a touch point above and below to create a line, then extend the length of the line past theoretical line so I can create an intersect. But for some reason I cannot get good results. It doesn't like something I am doing and I have no clue what else to do.
[To...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Are you using Recall or Recall Feature Points to create your line? How far off are your results? Approximately 1 probe radius value? We are often told to use Recall to build another feature, i.e. recall 3 circles to create a bolt circle. When you recall 2 points to make a line, the line's nominal will be based on the center point of the stylus causing the line to be off by 1 probe radius. In this case, use "Recall Feature Points" from the 2 points and ignore the dialog box telling you to use Recall.
[Li...]
I am using the recall feature points and yes they are off by half radius of stylus ball. I will try and get a pic of what it keeps showing me

[To...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Use Recall instead.
[Li...]
ok, so nothing I have done has made a difference in where the line is projected. I dont know what else can be done and I dont understand why it is doing this,
[To...]
I don't think "projection" is the correct application for this. Have you tried intersection of the line and the plane?
[Li...]
This problem has been fixed. What was causing the issue of the intersection point being in the wrong place was the theoretical plane construction with the -10mm off the original alignment plane. I used the individual points in the "recall feature points" then just entered in the x value to be -10mm. Where I should have "recall one feature" using the plane constructed from the 3 individual points, then right click in x value to enter formula to -10mm.
