Profile with no datum reference

If I have two planes that are to be evaluated as one, and I have a profile callout of 1mm with no datum reference, how can I check this if I do not have free form surface option on my CMM? Is there a work around that can be used?

Not sure if this is 100% correct but I'm thinking you can create a Geometry Best Fit Alignment. Select the 2 planes. Allow all degrees of freedom in the Evaluation Constraints.

Create a profile. select Plane1 and the Geometry Best Fit alignment. Repeat for Plane2.

The only area that I'm not sure about is the evaluation method for each of the planes.
