Best Fit Positions

On the drawing below, there are 2 position call outs, one for each set of pins. I started by doing a best fit bore pattern position on the 2 larger pins, allowing rotation only. Then, I selected the best fit alignment created from that position for the set of 6 smaller pins.

Does this sound legit?

Simultaneous requirement applies in your case as they follow the same datum sequence. So your best fit bore pattern should include all the 8 pins with rotation allowed.

Fortunately or unfortunately., the drawing does not contain the verbiage "Per ASME Y14.5-XXXX", so the simultaneous requirement technically is not in play. In fact, the bolt circle diameters are ±.0020" and not BASIC. I agree that your solution is best but I am bracing myself for feedback that the customer doesn't understand this. 😃 😃

You might be saved, or doomed, by ASME PDS 1.1, which specifies that documents using ASME symbols (but lacking a reference to a specific standard) are to be interpreted according to the standard that was in effect when said document was published.

I hope this is how its done, because that's how i do it.
Usually is like TP .010" ABC for each hole
then maybe TP .003 A underneath, that's the one i do the best fit pattern on.
