[Ke...]
I have a part that I *might* need to use my RT-AB rotary table for. It's an odd shaped 10" x 30" part (approximately 25lbs), with the potential mounting point being offset significantly to one side... - wondering if anyone has experience with this type of situation... or knows offhand if an uneven distribution of weight may have any negative effects on the rotary table. - also still looking for a spec sheet for the RT-AB rotary table Thanks! [Ch...]
I have RTAB and run non-symmetrical parts with center of gravity being offset all the time. At 25 lbs, you will be fine. It will force you to define your MMI, which will help it with off center loads. There is a switch on the controller if the weight get too high. It's the 'Betriebsarten mode switch'. But I don't think you have to switch it until the weight is close to 50kg or something. I'm trying to find documentation to back up what I've said, but I can't find it either. [Ke...]
This is off the top of my head, but I believe the RT-AB uses the Mass Moment of Inertia determination, which will affect the rotational speed if it is high, but shouldnt be an issue. I'll see if I can find a public spec sheet, but the weight those RT-ABs can support is very high. Edit: I found a Zeiss Rotary table spec sheet online: https://www.b4-print.com/wp-content/upl ... 29XIII.pdf
[Ch...]
Can anyone verify what I said about the mode switch?
[Ke...]
Chad, I know you are correct about the switch, but I am not sure what the condition is to determine when to change it. I will ask around and see if I can come back with an answer
[Ke...]
Chad, I asked around. The switch in question is not about the mass of the part, but the Mass Moment of Inertia. The person I was talking to was pretty sure the threshold for that switch is 8kg/m, but was not positive on the value as he was going from memory. [Th...]
I'm guessing this is the switch setting in question?MMI dynamics.PNG
[Ke...]
FYI: My RT-AB is the Transportable version. I'm guessing "0" = 0, and "Man" = 1 I dont seem to have the "MMI Mode" setting available, unless it's located in a different area?
[Ch...]
Mine is rotated other way. I also have the movable table. I always assumed I was on setting 0. Most of my parts are symmetrical and have very low MMI. does anyone know if I'm actually set to 0?
