[Mi...]
New to Calypso and CURVES (have taken CURVES/FREFORM course) so still trying to absorb it all in. For the parts we bought our new PRISMO w/rotary table for, the engineers give us XYZ points for some of the features to be measured as splines/CURVES. In CURVES I import the XYZ text file and CURVES creates the IJK values. We have compared nominal export IJK values with QUINDOS which has an add-on for WFS and so far using the default CURVES (no best fit or filters) the data matches within a micron. Does anyone know what settings in CURVES would better be suited to be closer to a WFS? So far we have only run 5 different comparisons with good results. I am just concerned that I have just been "lucky" with my limited use of CURVES. Added a link for paper comparing WFS to CAD generated splines: https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67 ... adc716946/ Thank, Mike Mueller
[Ph...]
Mike, Calypso is using NURBS fitting (unless something has changed) which is why you're seeing a difference in the normals. If your engineering team needs them to match, you'll have to include the normals when importing the curve data. One suggestion would be to have them provide you with the information on the drawing, or use data output from Quindos, since is has ability to generate WFS spline data. Otherwise refer all interested individuals to the last paragraph of the study...
