PC-DMIS to Calypso transition

Are there any experienced PC-DMIS programmers who also know Calypso? I am having a hard time with not being able to see the code or see what feature is being measured next. When I have a crash how do I know what feature is being measured? Can I make a correction and pick up where I left off? All of this was much easier with PC-DMIS.

Near the top of the screen it tells what feature is being measured. When the probe moves, the same message near the top left of the screen indicates the feature it is traveling to.

If you can get to training, do so, but the basic class doesn't even cover things like MMC, so advanced is needed, as well.

Programming and running from the FEATURES tab will most closely approximate the linear programming method you're used to. Running from CHARACTERISTICS means the features will be measured 'as needed' to fulfill the requirements of the individual characteristic being worked on. In other words, running from Features runs the features in order, running from Characteristics doesn't.

To expand on this, a feature will only execute if there is a characteristic requirement. You can make a complete program and compile mini plans for individual operations. This is a huge timesaver over Pc-Dmis in my application. I even have a program that handles, pre heat treat, after heat treat, after plating by utilizing mini plans with different nominals and tolerances for each . Clearance cube navigation is much better in Calypso and will self navigate when not run in a linear fashion.

you can un-check "clear existing results" in start measurement and it will continue where you left off.

however, do this only if you have not moved your part, otherwise you are risking a crash

I also use the Default Printout, normally it runs in the background. As Calypso runs it logs each feature. When running by Feature Order, which I always do, it will tell you exactly what feature was measured last.

As Calypso runs the left corner above "CMM" tab displays current and next feature. When Calypso stops that is the first thing I look at and write down.

An often overlooked resource is getting access to the Zeiss Portal. Inside the Portal are the knowledge base and videos, among other things. Some are free, some have a price.

You MUST use a company email address for the Portal. Gmail etc cannot register for the portal. I had to create a new forum account because I used my Gmail address initially.
