[Be...]
I am having an issue with clearance planes for a new program I am working on. When I try to measure certain features using the F9 command/execute drop down it measures the part without issue (first GIF). However, when I try to measure the feature in run mode (second GIF) you can see the probe take a non-linear path towards the part. When trying to measure internal features it ends up crashing into the part. I tried setting arc motion mode to off for these features thinking that could be the problem, but no luck there. Any other ideas?video1.gifvideo2.gif
[Ma...]
Do you have sufficient clearance cube? Using move points without probing?
[No...]
Does the CMM have the Navigator option? Our new Conturas have it, but until now we don't use any Navigator functions in programs and have no issues. But in manual mode I see it rounding corners all the time, for example when changing probes. I haven't had time yet to learn how it works, so I can't give you any advice on what to look for. What's even crazier is that it is something specific with the new Conturas, BUT if you write a program on a new Contura and take it to say an Accura II, it behaves the same way. There is something written in the program apparently. Blew my mind to see our Accura II rounding corners. Lol
[Ri...]
Navigator has two "Rounding" settings. I have mine set to "0" (Zero). I believe this alleviates the issue. You have to be careful with this "Rounding". I have a few hundred legacy programs that use a tight clearance envelope (0.50 (Inch) or 12.7 (mm) or less due to size of the parts. This rounding has caused collisions, particularly as in your example, moving underneath a part. This is in the "Measurement Plan Editor Features" menu under "VAST Navigator". Corner rounding within Features. Corner rounding between Features.
[Be...]
Please sign in to view this quote. It does have the Navigator option, and I have yet to look through the menu until now. The 'corner rounding between features' setting was set to 50MM by default. Bumping that value way down fixed my issue. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
