PCM Programs on Machines without the License

Please read the CALYPSO license agreement.
CALYPSO Option PCM commands are described in the CALYPSO PCM operating instructions.
If customers use PCM without their own PCM license, using supposedly clever ways of circumventing the license, then it's probably illegal.
We make our customers very clear that we do not tolerate the use of PCM without a license and that this leads to claims for recourse on our part.

This is absolutly untrue. It was sold to us like that by the salesman and also on both Calypso Trainings i attended. Only Later i learned about restrictions and asked the Zeiss support about it. Who also was very vague about the topic. This is why i made this Post in the first place.

Also we indented to buy a liccense. But not two or three.

Things like that : "...that this leads to claims for recourse on our part." just strengh my believe that i dont wanna be part of this.
I think i will advise my CEO against buying the license and another Zeiss Machine. 😐

I absolutly despise this way of marketing and later hidden costs.

@Rick Stanich: Yeah i know. I just boycott this like i do with alot of stuff that is in place for moneysqueezing. I dont say anything if something is sold extra if it is niche or super luxury. But Headlight Options aint that. My last Car i bougth four Years ago is/was worth less then one Tool changing Station from Zeiss 😱 😃 And i am absolutly fine with it

That was one of the reasons why at the time when we were comparing optical 3D scanners we decided to buy a GOM (not yet part of Zeiss back then) instead of a Zeiss Comet (formerly Steinbichler). Because that would have meant to buy AND maintain another full installation of Calypso together with all the options we use, in order to maintain compatibility and exchangeability of the programs. Being able to use basically the same program on different machines with different measuring principles is tempting at first, but looking back it was the right decision not to do it. What happened some years later is another story....

Hi there,
I currently work with Calypso, and just like you, I was surprised that I had to buy an additional Calypso license (PCM) to declare variables, add conditions, retrieve measured or nominal data in order to add all this in one formula, etc...
I also worked with other software like PC-DMIS, QUINDOS, QUARTIS, CAMIO. For all this software there has never been an additional license to pay for adding formulas, declaring variables and above all for adding conditions, moreover I currently have a problem with a condition that I put on a macro that doesn't work (see my post at viewtopic.php?t=10592).
With all these other softwares I never have this problem, which moreover the "PCM is free".
We are studying the purchase of a new machine and I push so that we no longer buy from Zeiss.
Now Zeiss are no longer the prestige of measuring machines, I had the chance to occupy the position of applications engineer at Hexagon metrology and I can confirm that I have seen much better than Zeiss and for less .

Good day to all

hey Dane,

we can start cherry picking by saying: hey this is included by this software, but that is included in that software and so on. The Point is there are certain "features" that are crucial in efficient programming and these should always be included.

I hope this changes in the future. I like the concept of calypso in general. All of that will be considered for future purchases.

It is expensive, but the ROI can be fast if you really need and use it. Especially for part families.
We have a lot of these. I makes programming for a 20-part family so much easier and faster.
