Feature used in a Characteristic

Is there a way with PCM to get the name of a feature used in a characteristic? using getNominal().identifier returns the name of the characteristic and getNominal().checkReferences just gives me a blank response, even when use getNominal("MY CHAR").checkReferences

I can't take credit for this, and I'm not sure anywhere I would use it but:

getNominal("CharacteristicName").featureElement.featureElementName
