[Za...]
Hi there, Sorry in advance, I can't share any pictures for NDA reasons. Also sorry in advance if this description is rough, I am fairly new to this. I am attempting to recall four continuous planes into a single plane so that they can be used as a datum. They all have the same Y coordinate. However, when I recall (feature points) them, the resulting plane is offset in Y by 0.05 and I have no idea why. So far I've: -Deleted the freeform surface I was using to combine them (they were originally a freeform surface until I discovered you can't use one as a datum) -Checked my point lists to make sure there wasn't an erroneous point somewhere that was throwing it off -Used R.C.F. on the planes individually and in different combinations of 1-3 to make sure it wasn't one of the planes throwing it off. The offset persists even if you use only one of the planes by itself. -Recreated the planes from scratch -Restarted Calypso -Restarted the PC The problem still persists. When you create a plane in the teach mode, the size of the plane is constructed from the max points in each direction. Same thing happens when you "Recall Feature Points". The new plane is constructed from the max points in each direction. I'm guessing your strategy on the 4 planes is offset in .050 from the model's edge. You can edit the X and Y values to where you think the plane origin should be. You would also edit the Length1 and Length2 values. Or, it may not be worth doing anything at all. Since this is a datum feature, the plane's location, width and length may be irrelevant. As a datum, this plane would be infinite in length and width. [Jo...]
I would start by right click on the individual planes, and Delete actuals. Then when recalled to "Datum" plane it will source the clean nominals from the individual planes. In the case where you have a nominal geometry, and just want to recall points, be sure the "recalculate" box in unchecked or it will corrupt the nominals.recalculate.JPG
