[Ni...]
There must be something I am missing. I discovered that recalling points from a freeform surface scan to create a 3D curve I get a "weird" offset from nominal. However, if I do this the other way around (recall points from a 3d curve to create a freeform surface) I don't get the offset from nominal. I was doing this to allow for the creation of a curve form plot. (The operators prefer this graphic) While, I need the Freeform surface to apply a profile characteristic per the drawing. Unfortunately, the graphic request wasn't made until the program was complete using freeform surface. I now know to create 3D curves first after this headache. But..... Why does this offset from nominal happen one way and not the other? Is there a more accurate way to calculate the "offset correction of nominals" distance needed to "fix" the 3D curve within its evaluation settings? Thanks in advance for a lesson in Calypso theory. My guess would be that it relates to how the nominal geometry is defined for freeform surfaces versus 3D curves. Freeform surfaces have their nominals defined exclusively from CAD entities. The nominals for 3D curves are defined by a collection of points. .

I believe when you recall points into curve, you're getting the mid point or probe center, which becomes the nominal point in the curve. I'm guessing your offset is equal to the probe radius. [Ma...]
If you have a model, then i would recommend to create new curve from this recalled curve - it will create nominals on model surface. I am using this method often - or if i have a model and i am clicking points by hand on model, then curve goes in model - so i am creating new curve by this curve ( path ) to have perfect path on model.
