Arc dimension

Hello everyone,
I am having some issues measure an arc dimension. I attached a few pictures for reference. So I have tried just using points to create a circle and I am getting some weird dimensions. Dim is suppose to be 4.70", but actuals are coming in at 4.443" or 4.221". I know this is incorrect. Also I noticed that when I made the circle, that the circle is actually sitting inside the arc instead of the outside. I have also done this with a cylinder, and have gotten the same results. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Could you post a print or sketch ? If you have nominal cad geometry,select feature, recall points into it without recalculate nominals selected. At least the nominals will be right.

Are you sure the CAD faces are really a circle / cylinder? Don't rely on Calypso's feature recognition, as it always uses feature approximation, you could also say it makes an "educated guess". To make sure, check it in a CAD program or ask the designer. I have often seen prints stating "this is a circle", but the actual CAD face was a FFS. That might explain the weird results you get.

Define the location and size of your circles nominals properly from CAD. In the circle feature, the most efficient evaluation would be to constrain the XYZ location of the circle. This will report a size of the diameter based on a set center point. Aside from this method, the other options are (not limited to) to strike curves and evaluate under Profile of a Line for each arc or if you wish to evaluate each arc (6 total) you can evaluate the individual circle sections under Size > Radius Measurement and specify the angle range of each arc. Again, constraining the center point (also specficed in the F1 Help page) will improve reporting consistency when insufficient geometry is presented.

Thank you Jefferey, I am going to look into this. And get with engineering, I'd like to see how it's drawn on CAD. I'm very thankful the engineers I work with are more than willing to help me out.

I don't know what standard you working with, but that is not a feature of size. I don't know how your supposed to provide a position for it.

Based on your print shown, a profile tolerance would be more applicable and MUCH easier to evaluate. The location + size tolerance is not likely the true design requirement, it is likely just defined directly from the interfacing component without all processes being considered (IE - this makes inspection very expensive compared to a simple .015 profile of a line requirement back to XY for a BASIC diameter at a BASIC location).
