Before when i took hits on a part it would call out "point" then if i hit another spot it would change to "plane" ect.. Now for some reason when i take a hit it makes a single point and it automatically puts "Space Point Distance" under the Characteristics section? Not sure what i did i cant get it to go back.

We are running Version 4.4.04.01

Thank you for any help

Thanks for all your help..I looked for anything in the Resources menu or the Features menu, I did see something called "Space Point Mode" But that didn't do anything.. Now when i take hits on my part it just makes Point 1, Point 2, Point 3 ect.. It used to change as i took more hits to 3D Line, then Plane. It doesn't do that anymore..

It is set to Touch Point. I cant figure out what has changed to make it do this.. I also noticed that any points that a take dont have any data? I hit two points on an ID and used those two for a Cart. distance and there isn't any data for the diameter....

I have Downloaded 4.6 Should i upgrade Calypso? We have an older CMM its a Vista..

One other thing i have noticed is when i load a program that i have run before, if i try to add a manual hit it says "Space Point Distance"

But if i start a new program and take a hit it just says Point 1 without any data recorded....

You purchased this machine used-when was it last serviced by Zeiss?
Based on your description of the problem you may very well have a failing probe head, or other hardware problem, which may cause difficulties as the VISTA reached its end of support in October of 2022.

With regards to upgrading from 4.4 to 4.6, is the license you have for 4.4, or is it for a version between 4.6 and 5.6? Licenses up to 5.6 are able to be utilized for older versions of software(5.4,5.2,5.0,etc). The licensing methodology was changed with 5.8, so licenses for Calypso 5.8 or newer are not able to be utilized for Calypso versions older than 5.8. If you do not have a license for a version between 4.6 and 5.6 already installed and active, you will not be able to utilize any version newer than 4.4 (and if you do have a license for a version between 4.6 and 5.6 it will only be able to be used for that version or older. A 5.4 license will not work for 5.6, etc). You will also not be able to obtain or activate a license for these older versions of software, as the licensing system for these older versions was decommissioned a number of years ago.

From the description of your problem, a software upgrade most likely will not resolve your problem as it appears to be a hardware issue, and unfortunately your software is also so old that it is well past its end of support as well, meaning Zeiss will likely be unable to assist you with any software related problems, whether they arise from the upgrade attempt or are related to your current problem.

Thank you for your help!

The CMM was last serviced by Zeiss in 2022 And the Lic is for Ver. 4.4 only from what i see. If i load a program that i have made before it will run fine. So i think the Head is working right. But when i try to take hits now it just comes up [point 1, Point2] ect.. without recording any data. But if i open the first "point 1" and then keep takeng points it will record data for the remaining hits...

Glad that it was recently serviced, and I agree that based on what you're describing it does seem to not be a hardware issue. Unfortunately my experience with 4.4 is very limited, and I cannot install it to take a look, so I do not have any good suggestions of fixes. Best of luck, I hope it gets sorted out.

Something to try...

Go into Extras/Settings/Measurement/Features

Is Feature Recognition checked for all your different geometry?
