network security setup

So, our Calypso pc's have now been added to the network so we login with our user accounts. The trouble I run into is network Policys applied are making it difficult to run efficiently. Like most networks it now goes to a lock screen in about 5 minutes. It does not have an option to bypass this. The other issue is if it goes to lock screen and the user does not close out Calypso it prevents other users from using it. If a shift change happens the only solution is to reboot the computer. With open programs this could cause data loss or possible corruption of the database for piweb. Anyone have a good network setup for this?

If you have admin rights on the computer, you can follow this link to show how to prevent it.

You might try turning on a screen saver display that comes on every 4 minutes if the computer detects no activity.

That said, you don't have a very good I.T. department if they can't prevent that from happening. If they think it's necessary, keep count of hour many minutes/hours you lose every day messing with it and change them for it. 🤣

Our IT does know how to disable it but with network access it's a security risk having it open to anyone walking by. Not sure I have a good solution.

I didn't mean it to sound like I was bashing your I.T. department, just a poor way to saying it shouldn't be that big of a deal.
Working on a secured a network is a lot more complicated than it used to be, seems like I deal with I.T, regularly anymore after updates. The last update, just last week, wiped out the I.P. address to controller 🙄

We use one neutral user account for all operators. Of course if you do that, the policy must be applied in such a way that this account doesn't have access to anything but what is necessary for machine operation.

So, is it possible to have Calypso open on more than one profile at a time?
I have never seen it work anytime I tried. (Not that I think it's a good solution)

I don't think so. Obviously, only one Calypso instance can be allowed to connect to the machine at any time, and I'm certain there would be a lot more conflicts between parallel instances on the data side.

Can your IT allow network access as read only, this is how we ran things in Ohio.
We had generic network logins, except for the Programmer (You would Log Off, Log On and then have privilege's others wouldn't).
Users can access the network, retrieve a file and paste on the local drive to run.
No one would be able to delete/edit a file on the network.
Local edits would need approval and then the Programmer could replace the network file.
