[Ch...]
Greeting all. From the little I've read on the forums folks are leaning towards GOM for analysis of point clouds generated by the Metrotom series machines. I have yet to convert fully as CALYPSO is basically my second language, but here's the issue. When loading a point set into my program/measurement script, I'm able to do so seamlessly part after part. However sometimes I get this error yelling at me, after trying to open a point cloud, that states "Incorrect input values or CT dataset too large for the memory." The only way around this is to reboot CALYPSO, which is a pain. Is there a box somewhere that I can check to parse the memory after a new file is loaded? Is this what is causing this issue? Any insight would be helpful *outside stating to use GOM 😭 😭 😭
[Je...]
I'm interested to hear how you solve this one, Chad. I've been hearing the same info. I may push for a Metrotom purchase in the near future. Until recently, I was set on using Calypso to operate it, much for the same reason you mentioned of fluency with the software. The more I investigate the issue, the more it appears that GOM Volume Inspect and Calypso are designed for different tasks. This doesn't answer your question, but I think of the situation like this: The guy in the photo below made a "boat" from a truck last year that he launched in the Gulf of Mexico. It moved about 3-4 miles per hour. Can it really be said that this is a boat? . . Calypso can "handle" point clouds, but it's coughing and choking and crying the whole time. [Ri...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Have you reached out to Zeiss directly for assistance? Sounds like there is a memory leak somewhere if a Calypso reboot temporarily solves the issue.
[Ch...]
I'll reach out to them with a service request. It's not just loading point clouds, sometimes when I've got a SUPER large program it will say it cannot load because of insufficient memory... And I have PLENTY of that, in my computer... eh not personally though 😜
