Reference is incomplete.....What?

These error messages need serious work. 🙄
What causes a "Reference is incomplete" error and forces you to run features that DO NOT NEED TO RUN.
I'm using a mini plan, the mini plan doesn't include the features in the message box.
I've deleted the mini plan, rebuilt the mini plan.

There are no "references" of any feature and or characteristic in the mini plan for the features in the error message.
See attached image.

Something is using it. Possibly through a formula, or through some convoluted secondary alignment systems ( I'm used to looking at programs written by another where they tend to have dozens, sometimes hundreds of secondary alignments where this message comes up a lot)

Example I ran into, a lot.... Rather than using a best fit tool, I get to look at programs that have that math done manually in theoretical Point features X,Y,Z, then the results from that used to rotate secondary alignments by whatever the best fit value is, and then position characteristic's use those rotated secondary alignments... the references made in those formulas do not work correctly and won't always run the features when they should, creating this error at the end of the program run at calculation time if somebody tried to run a partial program.

OR

Opening/closing the program from your offline seat while it happens to be measuring will cause this error as well.

I have checked the reference of every feature and characteristic in the program.
There are three features that are doing this, they reference two separate alignments.
There are no formulas, PCM, etc involved with the three features causing this.
The characteristics i the image that are greyed out are tied to three features causing this.
Its a mini plan, those characteristics are not selected in the mini plan.

Usually, closing the program and reopening makes it go away. That isn't the case this time. I even restarted Calypso.

Just curious, is that feature being used for another characteristic that is in the same group of a characteristic you use in your mini-plan? It shouldn't matter, but I remember something strange about it. May be a bug.
I've had this error before and like you I couldn't find it.
Trying to remember how I figured it out.

Do have the program open offline and looking at things while it is being inspected on the CMM, or open it offline while it's running? Saving programs while it runs, or open and closing while the program runs, I have found out the hard way, this has caused this error.

This was during a normal run, I added a mini plan...

The program will be run in Autorun mode, so for now I added the features to the mini plan so I can continue working.

This is an indication that the feature noted in the prompt was utilized in the program but not directly referenced by a characteristic report value. It could be a reference from a secondary alignment, a mini-plan using a referenced characteristic (result element) or a PCM/Formula callout to that feature, notably in an alignment.

Laymens terms - Calypso needed that feature measured to complete a calculation but the method of characteristic selection didn't force it to run. This is why PCM or secondary alignments used only for report calculation are the culprit.

Easiest way to determine the issue is to check use of that specific feature and verify that any of its characteristics are utilized in the plan you are running.

Hi

I have seen that error many times, when i edit the program at the offline seat and the program is used at the machine at the same time.
