Autorun Appearance

I've been using Autorun for a couple years now and have set it up in a way with different desks to make it easy for operators to navigate to the program they need to run. Works great!
The interface just looks bland. It feels like its very limited in what you can do with it unless I am just not that creative. I am looking for ideas to make it more visually pleasing. Would anyone be willing to share a screenshot of their setup so i can steal some ideas? 😉

If you right click inside the icon window you can add pictures, text, etc.
I like to add instructions inside the "User Information" bar on the bottom right.

Yeah, I've added a few pictures and changed some colors and messed with the text. Still just looks bland.
I guess as long as it works and it does its job well is what really matters.

FYI
If you take a picture, say a screen shot or something, and save it under the name "inspict.bmp" and drop it into the program folder, when you load that program into autorun the picture will automatically appear as the icon image.

Be sure to make the picture as square as possible because autorun by defaults loads a square icon when you open a new program.

So I was playing around with some different patterns in Powerpoint and Paint and came up with this. I am not good with colors maybe because I am slightly colorblind 🤣 , but I think it looks a little better anyway. 1917_c043245d1f3a4b1a35d0615e0881c7e9.jpg

Does it always load the current image from the program folder (so I could add images afterwards) or is this a one-time thing when the icon is created?

So i just added a bitmap image to a file that previously did not have an image in the folder, and when i reopened autorun the image was there, meaning it looked for and saw the image, and updated itself.
So yes, im sure if you change an image it will also update itself.

I got an autorun Q:
Can you select programs from different layers to run consecutive?
Say if i have 3 parts from different customers or different Op's, and i want to stage them to run while i go take a VERY extended lunch?

Also
I use 3 point start alignments on every part i program. The operators love me for that.
Can you select start alignment in autorun?

Richard - Yes we are a PM facility.

Roberto - I just tried selecting programs from different layers and was unable to. I know you can select multiple from the same layer and even mess with the sequence.
Also, you are able to select the Start Alignment in the "Define Run Parameters".

Unfortunately not. That's what forced us to stop using two magnetic chucks alternately on our Contura, like we did in UMESS.
I once entered a software wish to add this function, but it never happened (like so many other things)

I have a question, and any help would be greatly appreciated... I'm trying to add a background picture to my Autorun layers, but every time I click on "Create New Background Image" and browse to the saved .bmp file for the background, the picture comes in as a gray box. Am I missing a setting? Something that should be turned off that's currently turned on or vice versa?

Again, any help is appreciated.

I've tried .jpg format, .bmp, .png... nothing. This is on a new Contura... odd thing is that doing the same thing on my offline seat, I have no problems whatsoever, which makes me think there's a setting somewhere that needs to be changed. I just don't know where it is.

Help!

In Configuration/User/Privileges
Is it possible privileges aren't set for Load/Remove Pictures?
Are you using a master log in?
Just taking a guess...

I am logged in on the master account. Currently this is the only user profile, as it's a new machine that we're still in the process of getting configured. We will be setting up a user profile with limited access later, but for the time being the only user profile in use is the master profile.
I feel pretty certain it's something relatively simple like this, though... I just haven't been able to find it.

Hi Everyone I've been trying to figure this issue out for about and hour now and it looks like the issue is Calypso doesn't like pulling pictures from a network drive. I placed all the photos I wanted to put into my autorun program in the Pictures folder on the computers C drive and I was able to import them into my autorun with no issue. HTH

Your assessment is accurate, Marc.

While users have tried to find ways to make the appearance of Autorun palitable, the truth is it looks and feels bland and outdated. This trend is on par, unfortunately, with Calypso as a whole.

It's not just an appearance issue. User interface is the most important aspect of modern application design. Companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Dassault Systems, Adobe and Autodesk know this. Our brain and eyes naturally react to design elements. Appearance matters.
