Free-Form Surface: Point Set Scanning

Does anyone know if it is possible to control the "corner rounding" when scanning inside of a Free-Form surface with the Point Set tool?

In Simulation, it behaves correctly, but on the real machine, it is going way above and below the paths.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

As you can see, in simulation it behaves correctly.

Goto the menu Extras > Settings > Measurement
Within the tab labeled "SCAN Limits" just change the value for Edge deviation in the section titled "Plane". The greater the number the more rounded your polyline scans will be.

I'll try that when I'll be at work - this bothered me so much.

I was doing clicking on FF to get rough path - then recalculated 3d curve to get that path - then created 3d curve from that path. That was the most accurate path on wavy surface.

This isn't a Polyline scan, and I believe that is for the default settings. There is no way to control this behavior inside of the Free-Form Surface.

I don't have a screenshot of how it is behaving on the real machine, but imagine the stylus is continuing well beyond the top and bottom rows, and actually falling off the surface.

So in essence, it is making a really large arc above and below the surface.

1. Features Settings Editor > Navigator > Corner Rounding Between Features - Set to lowest allowable value.
Features Settings Editor > Navigator > Corner Rounding Within Features - Set to lowest allowable value.

2. Increasing point density will also mitigate this issue

The directions on how to properly set this up can be found in the ZEISS Calypso_09_VAST_Navigator.pdf also

Jeff,

Thanks for the info. Would this still apply to an MMZ with an RDS?

No Navigator on this machine. Old MMZ B with an RDS.

I also did testing in Simulation, and it had no effect of the scanning. Hmm.
