Measurement strategies - Metal 3D Printing

Hello Zeiss forum!

I'm curious on y'alls thoughts on measuring 3D Printed parts on a CMM! Pretty much all of the parts that I deal with are 3D printed and they all have as-printed datums that I need to measure back to. I know that I can just take a bunch of single points but I'm curious if anyone has experience with scanning on these types of parts? My thought is a big stylus and put a filter on all the data, but I'm wondering if I'll just rapidly damage my probes (all nickel alloys).

Any insight that anyone has would be welcome!

Thanks,
Connor

Just some info.
Using the Mohs hardness scale to relate to gemstones and minerals.
Ruby's are a 9 on the Mohs scale.
Nickel (In general) is a 4.

The Mohs scale is from 1 to 10, a Diamond is a 10.
