model disappearing

Model keeps disappearing. Any ideas?

When I search "losing model" it ignores the term "model". If I search "model" by itself, there are too many instances to display. PLEASE FIX SEARCH

Tom - I had this happened in the past and reached out to hotline but they could not figure out what it was. It was also happening on a particular measurement plan and not others. Sometimes it would stop if I created a new measurement plan but it was annoying having to do that nonetheless.

Turns out there was a problem with the graphics card drivers and once I updated it, it never happened again. Give it a try.

BTW, yeah new account, switch companies and I'm no longer at Waters.

Salute!

No problem! Yes, I'm still in Mass. Working for Lockheed Martin up in Chelmsford now. You are a legend around here amongst the older programmers.. I think you might have trained them all 15-20 years ago lol

My model disappeared somewhere in the middle of 30+ years of marriage 🤣 .
Luckily she can't visit this forum. 🤣
Seriously, what type of cad model extension are you using?
I've read people using .igs and step (stp) have problems occasionally. I've never had problems using ACIS (sat, sab) models.

LOL Good thing your wife is not a metrologist. WTF I'm getting spellchecked on metrologist. Twice. Can't we get any respect?

Anyway, it is my understanding that when a model gets loaded, it is converted to an acis model, so I don't understand how the format can be related. This issue started about a month ago and customer "claims" no changes have been made to the computer, i.e. software or hardware.

Been a while since I ordered a new system but, I thought you had to select which cad converter license you wanted when purchasing Calypso and if your model format wasn't created in that format, it wouldn't open it?

Yes, you are correct. Calypso can load acis models by default because the CAD element of Calypso runs on ACIS. When you purchase a system, you get the choice of either STEP or IGES. Everything else is $$$ No matter which file format you load, they are converted to acis (model.sab) FYI sab = standard acis binary, sat = standard acis text

In the situation I posted about, the model gets loaded fine, runs fine, etc. However, occasionally, the model disappears, including the model.sab file.

A little late to the party, and not nearly at the level of most of you folks, but...

I was experiencing a similar issue with several programs recently (running Cal2021 7.2.16) and I found that when I went to CAD>Modify CAD Entities...>Hierarchy the CAD model still showed up in the list but had become unchecked. I simply re-checked the model entity in the list, and the model shows up consistently again.

I haven't noticed the situation returning yet, but time will tell.

It did not occur to me to check the plan folder to see if the model.sab file had disappeared, so the above was my solution.

And thanks again for all the useful information provided in this forum. I don't actively participate much, but I do a LOT of browsing and have learned quite a few things from you folks.
