[Br...]
I am trying to find a way to accurately measure the depth of each recessed plane in reference to the Cone. Since the plane I'm trying to measure is sloped in reference to the base alignment, I am unable to find a way to measure this accurately. How would I go about getting this information? I have tried intersection points, secondary alignments, but none of them have worked so far. HELP.
[Ma...]
What exactly do you mean by depth of plane to cone? Actual depth of the slot sides? Distance from the center of gravity of the plane to the shell of the best-fit cone? The deepest spot from the shell of the best-fit cone?
[Br...]
Trying to measure from the sloped plane to to the intersection point between the cutout wall and the edge of the cone, perpendicular to the plane. I need to to this for all 6 planes
[Jo...]
This isn't really an answer, but observation. Depending on how the cone is defined(diameter, gage length etc..) It would be much simpler to use it as the Datum and call a profile 6x to flats. That would control orientaion, and locations. Very easy to report as well. Your depth is not really in the correct vector if I understand your description.
[Mi...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Here's a thought: Scan each plane. Use the perpendicular construction on the plane Intersect the perpendicular with the outer cone. Cartesian distance with the intersect as feature 1 and the plane as feature 2, repeat x6
[Er...]
I would try scanning a line in an alignment using each sloped plane as a spatial datum. That should lock in being perp. Intersect the line with the cone. Intersect the line with the sloped plane. Cartesian distance using each sloped plane.
