Controlling Movement during MANUAL stylus system changes

We have more stylus systems than can physically fit in the rack.

Sometimes they are forced to manually load a probe during the CNC run. We train the operators to always do this above the part with a clear line to the rack, turn the speed to half until it goes to it's next move, and everything will be fine.

However do any of the stylus change path settings control manual changes? Can I make the CMM move to a certain position if a manual probe change is being requested?

What happens is sometimes they forget, and after the manual upload or download the head then takes shortest path to the probe rack... not good.

I would recommend forcing a rack asignment in those cases if at all possible. The less operator interaction, the less risk. I have not had any problem with chip I.D and use is as a safety as well. If you don't load rack properly it warns you when it picks it up and checks I.D . Be aware clearance navigation is based of rack pocket, NOT stylus, so you want to assign those carefully.

No, because then it will still activate if a operator does load a given stylus system into the rack like we tell them to do.

If you can fit the all the needed stylus in the rack for this job:
Automatic Stylus system change>select drop down"create new assignment"
Then Rsources>measurement plan>rack assignment to select and force for that program

If you cannot fit all in the rack, and you still need to hand load others.. you need skilled operators lol

Hmm, so we do not use Chip ID. It's been too problematic.

If I do this setting does it automatically change the rack assignments in the "Automatic Stylus Change" Window, meaning it relies on Chip ID to be safe.

Or does it look for the assignments in that window to match whatever you set in the saved Rack assignment, then yell at the operators if they haven't done it?

It works without chip I.D
It prompts you to load rack up before measurement begins. If you load rack wrong it wouldn't know, but it does solve the navigation and handling problem on the front end..2374_5e0aa01803c8003c0b8d8dc21c007fe7.jpg
