[Ni...]
Hi everyone, I am sure i have done this before but I don't remember how. I've been trying to do it but every time I rotate, the theoretical line projects to different angles. So I have a 3d line created off two circles on the X Axis. I need to create a theoretical line from that 3d line that's 90° on the Y axis so i can measure a diameter to that theoretical. I have tried to rotate using a secondary alignment that has a special rotation of 90° on Z. I have tried one recall and then rotating using the secondary alignment. A1 and A1 become 90° and throws the line in different angles. I've tried using construction > Perpendicular > Circle of ID > 3D line but that creates a perpendicular line that goes up and down on the Z axis instead of the Y like on my drawing. Anyone got any ideas? Thank You
[Ma...]
Using alignments are most flexible and easy, but you can use math to calculate angle using formula to A1 / A2
[Er...]
Try creating a theoretical line, add Depth and changing the Space Axis.
[To...]
Please sign in to view this quote. I created a 3d Line recalling 2 small circles. Next, I created a point feature and recalled the 3d line which gives me the mid-point of the line. I created an alignment with the 3d line as the planar, and the point as x/y zero. Next, I created a 3d line, made theoretical feature. Change it to the alignment. Changed the space axis to +Y Added a value to the depth field so it is visual UPDATE: I did the above in simulation with some dispersion. The X and Y did not behave the way I expected it to. There was no change in those coordinates when I flipped the 3d line from Base Alignment to Alignment 1. UPDATE 2: I think Calypso is not working correctly. Circle1 = Nom X-50 Y0 Circle2 = Nom X50 Y0 Circle2 recalls feature points from Circle3 so I could make the deviation very obvious. Actuals are X52.00007 Y 1.99778 Circle3 = Nom X52 Y2. 3d Line1 = Recall Circle1 and Circle 2. 3d Line1 shows approximately 1.12° rotation in A1 Y/X but the depth of 100 only show 100.019. It should be closer to 102 Point1 = Recalls 3d Line1 Nom X0Y0 Actual X0 / Y.98139 The X should be closer to 1 and the Y looks reasonable. Alignment1 Planar = 3d Line1 X/Y origin Point1 3d Line2 theoretical feature using Alignment1 Nom and Act X/Y are 0.000 but don't change when selecting BA or Alignment1 Seems like I'm doing everything right. If you want to see any change in actuals on theoretical feature after changing alignment, you have to duplicate that feature, change alignment to another one from which you want to see deviations and recall theoretical feature - now you should see deviations. Otherwise you have to use characteristic - angle between features located at "Form Location" menu.
