CMM Calibration

Hi, I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there are any major risks for pushing out a CMM Calibration to two years instead of annually?

Also, if we did move it out to every two years, is there a CMM qualification/verification check we can do to make sure the CMM is still measuring within optimum parameters?

Thanks!

During Covid shutdown, we had to delay calibration for close to an extra year. Although an artifact is awesome to have, management decided to have us create "Master" parts and compare result data (These parts were created a few years ago with their data sheets being updated right after CMM calibration).

We survived but this was only a temporary forced delay. We still have annual calibrations.

Calibration is also service don't forget. Cleaning and lubricating the machine.

Ours are all done on a 6 month basis and it's the main reason we've been able to keep our aging fleet of machines in great working order even the ones in horrible shop floor conditions.

Zeiss should actually offer to trade us a Brand new Duramax for our oldest one so they can use it to brag about how good the hardware of the machines is if you service them properly, even if you treat them as badly as we do.
