Hello, someone has switched off the heating over the weekend. It is now 15°C on my Prismo. Can anyone tell me if it is a bad idea to start the machine? 😐

I can only speak for our Contura from 2001, and there it was definitely a bad idea. It was installed in March and over the first weekend after installation somebody left a window open and the room was at 17° C. When they started the machine it made high sqeaking noises, which, as we later learned, were the air bearings touching the guides. The Tech guy, who had just left, had to return and adjust the machine all over again...

I suggest you take a look at the data sheet of your Prismo under "Environmental Operating Temperature" (Temperatur für Betriebsbereitschaft). If you're out of spec here, better let the CMM warm up for a day first.

In addition to the operating temperature specification, the CMM will also have 2 temperature change specifications (Per day and per hour, if I recall correctly) for accuracy, so monitor those as well.
