L Stylus using RDS-CAA

Hello all. I have a question which has probably been asked before.....but I'll ask it again 😃

Back around 2010 or so, I attended a Dealer AE conference at Zeiss. Mark Busha, of Zeiss, (not Mark Boucher) showed everyone how you could set up a stylus system with a down stylus(1) and a lateral stylus(2).

It would be nice if you could set one up without the down stylus. Has anyone figured out if this can be done? I toyed around with idea of setting one up with the normal config and just removing the down stylus but I don't remember what the issues were that made think it was not possible. So, here I am. Got anything?

I don't recall what the reason was as to why I determined it wouldn't work or that the process was flawed. If it had worked, I would probably be using it now on a regular basis.

I knew I liked you for a reason...lol The SSC looks perfect.

I assume you used this as stylus 1 and it qualified using 12 positions... Did you start with it at A0B0 or A0B-90? Do you remember the reference sphere tilt and rotation?

Not sure what you mean you used in 5 articulations other than your measurement plan required 5 different angles.

The stylus has one tip, "#1 A0B0(L +X)".
A0B0 and the tip is 90 (+X).
So I started at A0B90 (Not -90).
I have another I think is A0B-90.
If you want B-90, just rotate the stylus in Stylus system Creator 180°, save as a new stylus.

I don't understand why this is a problem, unless the use of CAA makes it
one? Zeiss makes a specific "L" stylus used to qualify the O-inspect rotary.
