Modify CAD model

It should mean workpiece - this tells Calypso what is model to make cuts and so on.

But for example if you would use surface profile and having more than one "part" then it won't work - you have to use rework / remodel to have all models as one - but then you lose ability to move parts independently

Calypso distinguishes between part and workarea. The part (marked in blue) is the normal workpiece you make your program from. A workarea is only used in option Planner/Simulation. You can load and place additional CAD models to represent all the fixed setup on the granite plate for collision checks (fixture parts, calibration sphere, stylus rack etc.). These models can be marked as "workarea" (red) in the hierarchy. They can then be saved and loaded as a whole, so you can quickly place them on the CMM in a new measurement plan.

If you just unmark an entity as not being a "part" anymore it may get deleted by certain cleanup functions, such as CAD > Modification > Delete free lines and points. For example, lines created by the cutting functions (yellow on the model) do not belong to the part and get deleted during a cleanup.
