Define sequence across layers?

Is there a way to make a multi-selection or define a sequence ACROSS LAYERS?
I tried to do this from release to release since we have Calypso, but never got anywhere.

I don't need a permanent (saved) sequence, but rather a one-time multi-selection. We have two magnetic chucks on the CMM and I'd like the operator to be free to put (almost) any part on any of the chucks and be able to run them in a sequence. So there are no fixed pairs.
Our Autorun desk is subdivided into many layers, one layer per project. So if I want to run two parts from different projects in sequence, I need to multi-select across layers.

Any ideas?

Only possible thing that comes to mind (and I only have used Autorun a few times),.. is possibly FACS automation, which calls Calypso.exe from command line. It allows you to execute standard programs from a command line, Im not sure autorun is implemented in it. If it were, there may be some options that way.

Good luck.

Hello ( Moin ),

A bumpy way would be to create an extra "Sequence" ( or what ever name you prefer) layer. Copy the programmes from different layers into this particular layer and define your sequence. 😉

regards and a nice weekend

Interesting idea, but unfortunately not manageable. The people who operate Autorun don't have permission to create new layers (for a reason 😉 ) and it would be too time-consuming doing it that way.
We worked this way in UMESS, when Autorun used independent "stations" that could be queued. Today we got used to not being able to do that anymore, but since we'll receive new machines in a few weeks, I wanted to check back if the situation may have changed in the meantime.
I looked into the *.arn file last week and found out that the "SEQUENCE" section is a sub-section of the "LAYER" section, so the whole thing seems to be organized in a way that sequences can only exist inside a layer. Bummer. 🙁

Approx. 500 (and growing) 🤠
Plus another 500 stylus calibration programs.

I had tried to do it with one layer only back when I was new to Calypso. But then I had to realize Autorun doesn't even give me scroll bars when I try to add and move an icon beyond the visible area. To get them, I needed to edit the desk on a notebook with smaller screen size. So there are more reasons for hesitation than just the number of programs 😉
