[Ri...]
Is this possible? Convert an SSC file to Step format (for use in fixture design)?
[Ch...]
I think there is an old thread on this somewhere and the consensus was that it is not possible. But I can't find that thread at the moment.
[Ri...]
You can get an STL, but the resolution of it is too course to directly convert to a STEP.
[Je...]
Heres a pro tip: If you change the file extension from .ssc to .zip you can view all the content files of the SSC. The zip file also contains the .vff CAD file but I've yet to find anyone that knows how to open .VFF files outside Calypso. If you are REALLY good with Python and SQL you might be able access the libraries and create scripting to create a model from the XML files but its a tall order and probably just easier to create component libraries in NX or Solidworks and construct manually. As far as needing it for fixture design. You should also be designing your stylus configs around your part and fixturing, not fixturing around your stylus configs. [Ri...]
Please sign in to view this quote. Often, fixture designs change and I do not always get to design the fixturing. In this case the part is quite large (X787, Y105 and Z350) plus around 250lbs. Due to how a third party is manufacturing, a center off mass issue arose that changed the entire design.
