Base Alignment with Mixed Features

I would like to hear some ideas regarding picking up a base alignment on a fir tree that mimics what the customer is doing on an Equator.

Customer says they are measuring curves on each end of fir tree. Then, they are extracting lines for U1-U4 and Best Fitting the 4 lines for 5 degrees of freedom and a point on the end for V3 for the last degree of freedom.

I'm thinking I will do a 3D Best Fit Alignment using points for the BA. I guess the next step would be to create a Geometry Best Fit alignment using the 4 lines and the V3 point. Does that make sense?

I am not reporting anything on the firtree profile but need to use this for evaluation on other features of the blade.

Base alignment don't need to be same as evaluation alignment or be super exact.

I would use something simple, then if needed using alignment from many curves.
It's much faster then taking many points for BF alignment and repeats.

But if precision is needed, then every feature's alignment must be setted as curve alignment and not as base alignment.

This is my OCD kicking in. 🤣

Make your base alignment as simple as possible.
You do not need to use datums.
All the base alignment needs to do is establish something exists in the volumetric area of the CMM.
You can create an Alignment in the characteristics tab that is attached to all your features after the Base Alignment.
Generally I create what I coined as a CNC Alignment, this alignment typically has the primary datum structure which is relative to most features.
Example:
