Error Code when starting a run

That feeling when you've spent all day programming for a part that's red-hot urgent and the measurement plan bugs out...

Has anyone seen this error? It pops up whenever I try to run the program, whether in manual mode or CNC. I tried copy and pasting the features and characteristics to another measurement plan, but the bug followed. Other measurement plans run fine.

Not sure about the error-code but this has happened a few times for me as well.

You did the first thing correctly. You confirmed it is a problem with either a feature or a characteristic by copying it to another inspection plan.

The next thing you do is to make a backup copy of the plan. Because if you save during the next steps you are in trouble.

Next step: the error is usually triggered in the characteristic list. Therefore you delete all the characteristics. Just add an innocent characteristic like a z-value or something.
Try to start the run. If that works you have confirmed that one of the deleted characteristics is the culprit. If it didn't you do something similar with the feature list. Just leave the base alignment.
But for this case we pretend that just deleting all the characteristics worked.

Now close and load the inspection plan to get all the characteristics back. Split them in to two different groups. Half of them in each. Delete one of thee groups and run the program. If it worked the broken characteristic is in the deleted group. If it didn't the broken one is in the other group. In that case either bring the deleted one back from the waste basket (or close and load the program).
Then you delete the other group and see if that works. When you find the one that works you know that the problem is in the other group. Then you split the bad group into two and repeat the process. And again and again until you have found the bad one. Delete that bitch and recreate it. The problem might be with one of the features connected to the characteristic so you might need to recreate those to. But at least you know where to look.

There is a small chance that none of them works because the error is present in more than one characteristic. Then you need to split them into smaller groups and delete all of them except one. Then you just add them back from the waste basket one by one until it fails. The method is the same as above but a bit slower.

Good luck

Thank you, Henrik. That is a terrific approach. I appreciate how you are able to take a frustrating situation and work through it piece by piece.

I'll try this strategy and let you know if it worked.

Yeah... unfortunately, this did not fix the problem. Not only that, but it appears to affect all measurement plans on this seat of Calypso. My guess right now is that it has to do with rights access / protection stuff, but I'm not sure how.

So, I'm not sure what originally caused the problem, but I ran a repair install of Calypso, and this seems to have fixed the issue. Phew. 😕
