Filter - Low Band High Pass

When scanning, the default option for filtering seems to be Low Pass. What is the difference between low pass, bandpass, and high pass as it relates to filtering when scanning. I am noticing significant differences (better) in my feature form when applying a bandpass and high pass filter to a circle that is recalled from 3d curve feature points.

Low Band pass filter allows low frequency waves to pass thru for evaluation. These waves are typically associated with the form of the part. It blocks the high frequency waves that are typically associated with surface finish or noise from the stylus dragging on the surface. This is what we normally use on the cmm.

Profilometers or surface gages usually use high band pass filter.
