[Gr...]
The release notes (and several other Zeiss documents) for Calypso 2022 advertise "- roughness evaluation with any type of sensor". I haven't been able to get that to work. On a fresh program, I can't add a roughness characteristic to the report. When I select Size-> More -> Roughness, I immediately get a popup window stating "Option Not Available: ROUGHNESS". I've got a VAST XT Gold. [La...]
You need to use a ROTOS sensor, and there is a module specifically for that sensor (a license) which you'd have to activate that function (CALYPSO Roughness). A Vast XT isn't an appropriate sensor to measure surface finish.
[Gr...]
Then why is it advertised as any sensor?
[La...]
Couldn't tell you. I see it in the release notes, too. I've only ever seen the ROTOS be used for evaluating roughness on Accura machines. Maybe call your ZEISS rep and get details.
[Je...]
. So..... According to Guenter Haas and Ana Mayr Adam, as stated in the Calypso '22 Highlights Webinar last week, we are now able to evaluate roughness in Calypso using other sensors such as VAST and DotScan and do so without an additional license. You can also, supposedly, import roughness data captured on non-CMM devices and evaluate it in Calypso. I haven't tried to verify any of this yet, but it sounds promising. I agree, Laura, that a ROTOS sensor is more appropriate for surface finish. You can view the recording here: https://protect-us.mimecast.com/s/soCYC ... ebinar.com . [Gr...]
Yes, I was the one who asked that question at the end of the webinar last week. While I agree that a ROTOS system is the most appropriate way to measure it, using the sensor I already have would be a convenient backup to my current standalone roughness measurement system.
