Never use a hot glue gun. The glue is still "alive" after it cooled down. Things that put the tiniest amount of load on the glue make it flow ever so slightly. It’s worse than using clay or putty.

Maybe there are different qualities of glue, but whenever I tried it, I was very disappointed.

Clarke, that fixturing is sick (the good kind).

Not only that, but I love the nerdiness of the Delrin nests for your v-blocks and other fixtures.

Thanks. The Delrin blocks have three magnets and two different size holes w/bushings that mate-up with dowels on the "tower" pallet. They will go on only one way (Poke-Yoke).

Aluminum can be magnetized by an eddy current field; it is magnetic as long as the current flows.
We did experiments with this in the past.

There was a time when putty was my #1. But now that we have 3D printers and a variety of decent clamping tools, I'd say it's #3.
