[gr...]
Hello everyone, I just started working with Zeiss coming from PC. Dmis. I went to basic and advance training but during training we were on the working with small cube which is easy to navigate around. At work I'm dealing with large circular parts and I'm having hard time finding an efficient way to navigate around those. What I'm trying to accomplish is go to x plus and then pick all my points on diameters and heights. Move over 45° and do the same thing collecting all the data in that area.. I cannot use z+ clearance plane because it will crash into the upper flange. I'm running some of the programs that the guy that used to work here created and what he was doing. He would create a point on one side.of.the part using move points and then repeat that for another set of points but that means he was going around the part several times. I'm trying to accomplish that in one. Maybe two passes. I'm hearing a lot of complaints from our management about the Zeiss not being efficient like PC dmis .any help ideas would be appreciated
[Dy...]
For start if you cant go to +Z you can block that part of the clearance and it will go around the part and never go to +Z rather then all the move points , then arrange your features outside the base alignment so that it does as much as you can on you +X side or whichever before moving to around the part.block.png

When you become the expert using Calypso, they will quiet down very quickly. Keep reading these forums, the help files, looking at other programmers work, and if possible attending Zeiss online or in class learning.
[Ch...]
For efficient navigation, you will probably have success if you choose "From Feature List" on the run screen. Then all you have to do is put your feature list in order. All the features on the +X side first, then all the features 45° over from that, etc. This will remove the need for position points in most cases, and leaving the position points in could cause collisions.
