What are the requirements for a position plot?

Hello. I have a fairly basic question regarding how to plot a position characteristic in PiWeb/Calypso.
What are the requirements for being able to generate a coordinate plot from a position characteristic? Sometimes the icon for this plot is available inside the characteristic window, and other times it is not. Does this have to do with the type(s) of features being used to create the characteristic (circles versus cylinders, etc.)?

It's the additional report setting (Resources > Characteristics settings editor > Report > Additional report). PiWeb needs the component X/Y (or whatever coordinate plane you're working in) values in order to plot the thing, so you'll only get the button in the characteristic window if you've activated that for the characteristic(s) you want. Otherwise, all that's being written to the database is the deviation value.

If you change the position to a best fit bore pattern, even if you're only checking one hole and even if there is no best fit required, you can generate a plot. The standard position does not.

The problem I have is that if you have a circle or cylinder as a datum feature that it can be identified in the plot as a Min or Max feature and it shouldn't be. You need to create an alignment instead of using specific datum features. Why?

    • 2 weeks later...
    Inspection plan editor for characteristics:
Transfer tolerance of extended protocol output to PiWeb (on/off)
    Display plots in report (on/off)
Output axis end for position tolerances = off

In the next CALYPSO 2023 there is a double XY position plot
Output axis end for position tolerances = on

Ah, I'd forgotten you can toggle the tolerance values of the component dimensions. I don't remember if PiWeb still displays plots without it, but it wouldn't be able to show the tolerance zone.
