Error 4711

I was doing a automatic stylus system change and after it picked up the new stylus system, it came out to Y0 on the approach distance and stopped. This VAST Gold has been known to "hang" for a brief moment in the past so I waited. After waiting, I escaped out of the sequence and did a manual stylus system change to "pick up" the new stylus system.

The program that uses the stylus system appears to be working properly but now, any time I open the stylus system management window for ANY stylus system, I get the following error. I can click on any stylus system in the tree and the error pops up. It seems to only happen while in the Stylus System Management window. When I close the stylus system management window, I get the same message but it is always tied to the original stylus that was being picked up when it stopped. I am going to re-create that stylus system and see if it clears up.

I'm guessing the database has been corrupted but only slightly.

Any thoughts?

Well, that's odd, never seen that particular error except directly after it doesn't load.
You could take the computer or joystick box and just smash it like Tom Brady would but, I think the first thing I would do is shut the CMM and the computer down and restart.
Regarding it hanging for a brief moment, I'd make sure the contacts of the in the head and the stylus plate are clean and check to see if the little pin in the head that aligns the stylus plate isn't loose. Also might try redefining the holder location on the wrack, check the tightness of the screws that hold the pocket to the stand, them things do loosen and move after awhile.

It only seems to happen on the first CNC stylus change of the day and it doesn't happen every day. Random stylus systems, too.

Tech defined it as "brain fart"....
