Trim an Edge Curve Scan

Recommended Posts

I have an application where I need to trim an edge curve to avoid a fixture component or reference another outside feature to guide a 3D curve scan on a very narrow edge. I know how to trim the main scan within an edge curve feature to avoid the fixture, but not the guide curve.

Any tips?

I have created two separate curve features and edited their start/end points (based on point numbers) from the same CAD edge. That worked for the primary scan within each edge curve, but the associated guide scan for each curve feature still runs the full length and hits the fixture.

Maybe you're talking about something else that I'm not catching.

The guide curve will always follow the nominals of the main curve so in order to trim a guide curve you must trim the nominals. In your case you will want to copy and past the main curve so you have two identical curves. Then delete the respective actuals in each so you have a "before fixture curve" and then an "after fixture curve". You can then recall these curves back together if needed into a theoretical "full" curve.
