[Ia...]
Hi All. Let's say you were given the gage below, and all you know about it is the radius and the tolerance. In this case, the gage is only about 15 degrees of a circle. How would you go about measuring this in Calypso? No CAD, no drawing. Just curious how everyone would do it. [Ju...]
I would use 5 touch points covering the full available arc of the radius and evaluate as an L1 feature. Also, I would constrain the x, y, and z location to better calculate the size of the radius.
[DW...]
I always try to run everything in CNC mode whenever possible. This might be overkill, but manually probe your features to get whatever you need for a base alignment. Adjust sizes, points, etc. Correct known nominals. Then loop the base alignment a few times (3x), and have the machine measure the radius as Justin said, constraining location for the size. For the extra few minutes it takes to set it up to run automatically, I think its worth it.
[Ia...]
If you don't know the exact location of the radius axis/centerpoint, what does constraining X,Y,Z do? I ask because if I have all of these constrained, and I change the nominal Y value of the radius, it changes its size.
[Jo...]
Profile, best fit. Who cares where the center is ? As long as you can probe it, you're after form.
[Re...]
I'm thinking that I would constrain the radius with the given radius to find location first. Then measure again with formulation of locations measured while constraining location to find the actual radius. This process may need to be looped or repeated for further accuracy. I'm pretty sure that this is how I have done this in the past with success.
