Old Looped Base Alignment Thread

I'm positive it was on this forum, there was an older thread where somebody mentioned an interesting combination of a Start Alignment that was complete except for the rotation feature, then they used a looped base alignment that only had a rotation feature.

Does anybody know which thread that was? I might be coming into a situation where I do the same, but I would like to re-read that one.

.

Why not use the base alignment to define all but rotation and then use a secondary alignment to specify rotation? Usually, a start alignment is a simpler, less-defined alignment used to quickly locate the part on the CMM and not the primary definition of the part's alignment for navigational purposes.

However, you probably have a reason for attempting this, Mike. Are you trying to get the measurement plan to only loop the rotation-locking feature?

Ah that was it!

I'm going to be measuring a similar part. I wanted to have this available as a method to attempt.

Thank you!

Purely because I've had a lot of annoyance anytime I've tried to loop a secondary alignment. For some reason Calypso runs it at the beginning - even if there is absolutely no reason to.
